The King’s Man 2 will be called The Traitor King, deals with the rise of Hitler

Director Matthew Vaughn has revealed that The King’s Man 2 is in the works. The title is The Traitor King and it deals with Hitler

Director Matthew Vaughn’s 2021 The King’s Man, which served as a prequel to his films Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, only made $121 million at the global box office on a budget that was in the range of $100 million, so you might not expect it to get a follow-up. It was written off as a bomb… until it got a lot of views on the Disney+ streaming service. Thanks to those streaming views, Vaughn confirmed during an interview with Collider that he intends to make a sequel to The King’s Man. He doesn’t know yet if it’s going to turn out to be a film or a TV series, he does know exactly what the story is. It’s going to deal with the rise of Hitler, and the title is The Traitor King.

Set during World War I, The King’s Man had the following synopsis: As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency in The King’s Man.

The film starred Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Matthew Goode, Harris Dickinson, Djimon Honsou, and Charles Dance.

While talking to Collider, Vaughn revealed that The King’s Man was originally supposed to be a TV series itself (“The Crown, but with espionage”), but then he was persuaded to turn the story into a feature film. Looking ahead to the sequel, “The next one is about the rise of Hitler, and how Hitler did come to power and basically was supported by the English aristocracy. … So I was like, ‘Well, that’s interesting’, and how the world was worrying so much about Communism that Fascism rose up. And I look at the world at the moment, everyone getting distracted and worrying about this [and that] and if you worry too much about [this] bad things can happen here. So it is a story that I think needs to be recalled. We’re calling it The Traitor King.

He added that the script has already been written, so it’s odd that it still hasn’t been decided whether it’s going to be a movie or a TV show. Whatever it ends up being, Vaughn thinks the script is “pretty cool”.

But before we get to The King’s Man sequel The Traitor King, Vaughn will be making another Kingsman sequel.
