Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer shows Miles Morales writing his own story

The new trailer catches us up on Miles’ life and the complications of juggling school, family, and saving the multiverse.

It’s time to catch up with our man, Miles. In true Spider-man fashion, Morales is having a hell of a time trying to balance his personal life, including school and family, with his superhero-ing. Sony has just dropped the new trailer of the newest entry from Joaquim Dos Santos, Justin K. Thompson, and Kemp Powers. This time around, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is attempting to outdo any parallel multiverse story with even more Spider-People than you can imagine, and even placing the fate of all of them on Miles’ shoulders.

The plot synopsis from Sony Pictures reads,
Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.

The new animated film sees the return of Morales, played by Shameik Moore, and Gwen Stacy, played by the delectable Hailee Steinfeld, in another adventure spanning parallel universes. Peter Parker, played by Jake Johnson, also makes his return, and this entry will feature new characters like Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, played by Oscar Isaac, Hobie Brown, aka Spider-Punk, played by Daniel Kaluuya, and Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, played by Issa Rae.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are the film’s writers, alongside Dave Callaham. For this installment, Lord, Miller, Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, and Christina Steinberg will be pulling producing duties. In addition, Peter Ramsey, Bob Persichetti, Aditya Sood, Rodney Rothman, Rebecca Karch, and Brian Bendis are on board as executive producers.

It was previously revealed that a new baddie would make his debut — The Spot — who is to be voiced by Jason Schwartzman. The spot shows off some fun portal powers and possibilities. However, it looks like there is a multitude of threats as Issac’s Spider-Man 2099 is on a disgruntled opposition against Miles taking on the responsibility for the fate of the multiverse. And it looks like this time, with great responsibility, comes great power.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is slated to hit screens in June 2023.
